When the MPHS Goin’ Gold Band takes the field at half-time next fall, there will be 57 members of the MPHS Colorguard joining them. This will be the largest Colorguard Mount Pleasant High School has ever fielded.
“We thought we had a large Colorguard last fall but the group just continues to grow,” said Dr. Judi Saxton, MPISD Director of Communication. “Interest in the Colorguard is starting early, too. We now have a Colorguard at Mount Pleasant Junior High School with 21 members this coming year. It’s exciting to see so much interest.”
Colorguard officers for 2017-2018 are Captain Peyton McClendon, Lieutenants Katherine Lopez and Natiie Macedo, and Squad Leaders Jorge Banda, Eileen Martinez, Brooklyn Mata and Abby Sneed. Colorguard Director is MPHS teacher Marty Newman.
