Notorious Fugitive Arrested
Twenty-four-year-old Daniel Navarro of Mount Pleasant was captured and arrested Thursday morning during a traffic stop by Mount Pleasant Police Officers. Navarro had intentionally placed the lives of many Mount Pleasant residents in jeopardy by evading from officers on several occasions.
Navarro, was observed on several occasions driving vehicles with impunity. He had no regard to the injurious consequences of his own reckless driving behavior and routinely drove in a way that could harm others, said Police Chief Wayne Isbell.
When officers would see Navarro driving and attempt to stop him, Navarro would flee from officers, drive at high rates of speed, drive into oncoming traffic and speed recklessly into residential neighborhoods in order to elude officers. Officers would stop pursuing Navarro for fear he would kill or injure someone.
Several warrants were issued for Navarro to include two counts of felony evading arrest with a motor vehicle and reckless driving. His past extensive arrest record combines both a history of violent behavior toward others and numerous drug arrests.
At the time of the traffic stop, Navarro was a passenger in a vehicle that left a residence that was under surveillance. The Mount Pleasant Police Department, Titus County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Unit, and the US Marshalls Service had been searching for Navarro for several weeks.
