Pedestrian struck by truck Friday morning
Friday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. an auto-pedestrian crash occurred in the 2000 Block of Burton Road.
Forty-nine year old Esteban Tapia of Mount Pleasant was traveling eastbound on Burton Road driving a 2003 Dodge truck when he struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as 26-year-old Ashley Taylor of Mount Pleasant.
Tapia was nearing a freeway exit ramp and had briefly looked to see if traffic was coming off the freeway onto the service road. Taylor was walking on the service roadway in the dark when struck by the Dodge truck.
Taylor was transported to Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant for a head injury. She was later flown to a Tyler hospital for additional treatment. The investigation concluded the driver of the truck was not at fault.
