Lesher diagnosed with cancer

Hayes Lesher, an assistant principal at Mount Pleasant High School and former head of the Mount Pleasant ISD Police Dept. was diagnosed with cancer Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to family members.

The Squamous Cell Carcinoma - which apparently started in his throat, tongue or tonsils - has spread to his lymph nodes.

Lesher has been married to Laura for 23 years and has four children; he has been a police officer for 22 years.
