Accident at Pilgrim's Pride

An employee at the Pilgrim's Pride facility in Mount Pleasant was severely injured in an accident Monday evening.

The company released the following statement:

“On Oct. 5, Pilgrim’s team member Fernando Cassio sustained a leg injury when he was struck by a cage loader at the West plant. Upon learning of the incident, Pilgrim’s team members responded quickly and Mr. Cassio was transported to a hospital in Tyler, Texas. Pilgrim’s is working with the family to meet their immediate needs. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Cassio and his family during this difficult time.”
