Fire danger still elevated
Although it rained Monday, fire danger is on the rise. 3 or more red lines tells us the fire danger is elevated. The attached image shows the fire danger yesterday and today. In less then 24 hours the risk went from one red line to five. Because we are currently so dry the moisture that a rain provides evaporates very quickly once the sun/breeze hits it.
Although Mt. Pleasant and Titus County are not currently under a burn ban, please be cautious when conducting outdoor burning. Don't allow small amounts of rain to give you an unrealistic sense of comfort.
An outdoor fire can quickly spread if too large or if left unattended.
