Duke a finalist for ESPY Award tonight


Professional bowler Norm Duke, who grew up in Mount Pleasant, is a finalist for this year's ESPY Award as Best Bowler.

Duke (born March 25, 1964) is an American professional bowler currently competing on the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour and the PBA50 Tour. He has won 40 titles on the PBA Tour, including seven major championships, and another five titles (two of them majors) on the PBA50 Tour.

He is one of only three players in history to reach 40 career PBA Tour titles.Duke has bowled 71 perfect 300 games in PBA competition, including the 15th televised 300 game in PBA Tour history on January 5, 2003.

A native of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Duke resides in Clermont, Florida, with his wife Karen, and their son, Branden.

An ESPY Award (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) is an accolade currently presented by the American broadcast television network ABC, and previously ESPN. to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony.

The 2019 ESPY Awards show will be held Wednesday, July 10, as athletes and celebrities assemble at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The event starts at 5 p.m. local time.

The ESPY Awards show will air at 8 p.m. on ABC, and will stream on ABC.com and the ABC app. The ESPYS red carpet show will air beforehand on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.

The 27th edition of the ESPY Awards will be hosted by comedian Tracy Morgan.
